The Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County (MPOJC), the county-wide planning organization for Johnson County, announces that the first of five Future Forward 2045 transportation surveys is open for responses. Feedback on the initial survey will be used to develop more detailed surveys for the following modes of transportation -- automobile, bicycle, and transit -- and the youth population.
The Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County will hold a public hearing on an amendment to the FY2016-19 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the Iowa City Urbanized Area. The TIP is the programming document for all surface transportation and transit projects that receive state or federal funds, including: street & highway, transit, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian projects in the Iowa City urbanized area.
For the fifth year in a row, co-workers, colleagues and friends of the late Linda Severson will carry on her legacy by collecting donations for area nonprofits and charities as part of the Severson Holiday Charity Challenge. Severson, who served as the Human Resources Planning Coordinator for the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County (MPOJC) from 1994 until her death in 2011, coordinated the City of Iowa City's holiday donation drive each year to help those in need.
